The top 100 places to visit in the world

Hello everyone,
In recent years I have made more than 100 flights per year. This represents between 400 and 500 hours in the air. Then I make per year, about 3,000 miles behind the wheel of leased vehicles, and many train trips and a number of travel by boat or ferry.

One day, when I thought about my travels, I wondered how I could use all the traveling. And that's how I got the idea to create a "top 100 places to visit in the world" in my opinion. Cities, historic sites, archaeological and natural wonders ... A personal list of what I consider to be the most unique places on the planet (and beyond) from those I've visited, but also some I've heard of and I'd like to see someday.

Here is my list, with some comments for each location. The list follows a specific order: first the cities and then the locations are classified by region - the Americas, Europe, etc. I've saved the best for last, in the category "other."
I searched every place on Wikipedia. What if I have more information to share in addition to my brief description or comment, I'll add the links in question

Solidarity in South and North

In the South, solidarity trips allow for a true tourism development tool for the benefit of local people. But solidarity is also present in the North.

To the South, tourism appears first as a development factor: creating jobs in services, but also in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors, it helps to diversify and strengthen the economy.
But only up to a point: its development, a country can not rely solely on the tourism sector.
Its economy is less diversified, less revenue from tourism will benefit him.
This phenomenon of "leaks" can be explained by the fact that the receiving country has to import the goods necessary to accommodate travelers from North (drinks, food, etc.
But also in a situation of high dependence-vis foreign tour operators managing and marketing activities.

Difficult to precisely define the contours of cultural tourism.
Any approach travel with an aim of finding does not she enters this framework?
Indeed, culture is a France and abroad, in cities and in the countryside and also looks good to the past and the present and the future: arts, contemporary art, science museums and nature , ecomuseums ...
Thus, among the ten most visited cultural sites in France in 2012 [1], the modern and contemporary art Georges Pompidou center in Paris, came in fourth, attracting nearly 4 million visitors.

Stays all destinations

The solutions proposed by the associations of social and solidarity tourism are very diverse in terms of destinations, accommodation and activity patterns.
The holiday destinations largely depend on the season: summer sea, mountain winter are the classics.

But, all seasons combined, campaigns welcome over a third of trips in 2012, before the cities (29%), sea (22%) and Mountain (11%) [1].
The sea is the first tourist destination in the summer: it is at this season more than 45% of stays [2], which are also longer than in other tourist areas: 7.3 days on average in 2012, all seasons together, against 6.7 for the mountain, 4.7 for the campaign - excluding rural coastline - and 3.8 for the city. Holiday villages offer packages well suited for group stays with family or friends

Holiday villages offer packages well suited for group stays with family or friends. With the desire to accommodate the largest number, while remaining responsive to the changing desires on residence.

Moments of sharing, stays with family or friends, this is how the majority of French design their vacation.
Among the offers that combine comfort and flexibility for families and groups, villages and resorts take a good seat.
And many of them are run by social structures of tourism, non-profit structures that are part of the social economy (see box).
Born in France in the nineteenth century and then addressing a small, wealthy minority, the resort sites were limited to the few resorts on the Channel coast time, the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and Lake Geneva and Annecy.

The Tourisme an undeniable economic lever

Tourism has become an undeniable economic lever and a real vector of development for many countries. Indeed, the sector attracts foreign and participates in the equilibrium of the balance of payments, creates direct and indirect jobs, increases incomes and generates multiplier effects on the other sectors of the economy and related services (eg trade, commerce, etc.).

The challenge is to maximize the positive contribution of the sector to local economies, thus reconciling between social and economic development and resource conservation in the broadest sense, including natural and cultural heritage, tangible and intangible heritage.

In other words, tourism development should reach the right balance between the three pillars of sustainability by:

            Optimally exploiting the resources of the environment;
            Respecting the socio-cultural authenticity of host communities;
            Providing all stakeholders of socio-economic benefits.

WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE TOURISM?

There are many definitions for Sustainable Tourism, which are ultimately all pretty consistent.

According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO) "The principles of sustainable development and practices of sustainable tourism management principles are applicable to all forms of tourism in all types of destinations, including mass tourism and the various niche tourist. The Sustainability principles refer to the environmental, economic and socio-cultural development of tourism. To ensure long-term sustainability of the latter, we must strike the right balance between these three aspects. "

Sustainable Tourism is thus characterized by the long-term vision that takes as its evolution and its various benefits (social, cultural, economic, ...) on the host communities. It requires the effective involvement of multiple stakeholders in order to fully achieve its objectives.
